The
Paracetamol and Ibuprofen in Kids Intervention
Study

The PIKI Study is a world-first study, investigating which of paracetamol and ibuprofen is best for treating pain and discomfort caused by fever, in children under two years old.

The PIKI Study is led by Kidz First ED at Middlemore Hospital, and the University of Auckland.
The study is being conducted at six major Emergency Departments across Aotearoa New Zealand.

“PIKI” means “to support” or “to climb” in Te Reo Māori.
This name was gifted to the study by a Māori Emergency Medicine clinician.
